Original Buddhist gold leaf bracelets
They are good luck bracelets. They are worn in odd numbers, since for Buddhist monks even numbers are impure.
The story goes that, to make them, monks collect gold dust from offerings to Buddha and fill each bracelet with it, then seal it with prayers of protection and bathe them in sacred oils.
Each of them carries a Mantra engraved in Sanskrit for good luck and wealth.
